    Hello fellow SPLs!

I figure this venue to be the best to ask for advice/suggestions on this particular subject.

I know that most of us traveling full time are primarily driving rental vehicles. I currently don’t own my own vehicle, and do not carry car insurance. I have not been able to find a company willing to insure someone with my very unique situation. I could add myself to my parent’s insurance, but it would not cover damage to a rental vehicle.

Do any of you guys know of a company that can help me? Do any of you find yourself in a similar situation? Any advice you guys can give me on this would be appreciated!

    Many thanks,

    Sibel Tekeli

    Hey Sibel,

Check the policies on your credit cards. I know it sounds weird but many of them actually have free rental car insurance included in your benefits as a card member. There are some limits to this however they typically involve the higher end cars and trucks.

I have a capital one card with these benefits and did not even know until one of the Locums docs I was working with pointed it out. Unfortunately this was AFTER I just paid out of pocket for a tire I busted on a curb. *insert eye roll here*

Anyways, you may actually have the coverage that you need. Hope this helps!

    Sincerely,

    Ashlyn
